Panera has a very small Oregon footprint, so set expectations before someone gets attached to this one. The confirmed Portland cafe is at 11563 NE Glenn Widing Drive in the 97220 area near the airport, which matters for anyone relying on transit. Many Panera cafes are run by franchise operators rather than the company, so the person interviewing may have their own hiring rules regardless of what the corporate site says. There is no published second chance or fair chance commitment, so this is a maybe, not a yes. Overnight baker shifts are often the easiest way in and tend to pay a shift premium.

Relay Resources is a Portland nonprofit whose entire business model is hiring people with disabilities and other barriers, so disclosing a barrier here is not a risk, it is the point. You do not have to apply online cold. They hold walk-in hiring events at 5312 NE 148th Avenue on the first and third Thursday of every month from 2 to 4 in the afternoon, and that is the easiest door in for someone who freezes up at online applications. Most entry roles are janitorial and landscaping on city, county and PSU contracts, with day, swing and night shifts, and they say plainly that they work with employees to provide accommodations. They also run a Competitive Integrated Employment program with employment consultants and job coaches who help with onboarding and ongoing support, and Vocational Rehabilitation referrals fit right into that. Oregon Public Broadcasting is public media, radio and TV, based in Portland. Almost everything they post is a Portland role, so an opening here is a metro opening. What makes OPB worth a look right now is the early-career door: they run several named paid internships and an emerging journalist fellowship, and those are real paid positions rather than unpaid credit. If you want media or communications work and you do not have a newsroom on your resume yet, this is one of the few local employers with a posted way in. Applications go through ADP, which is a short standard form, not a long corporate portal. They also hire facilities, engineering and design roles, so it is not only journalists.

C&S is a grocery distribution company that took over several Northwest warehouses, and the link here goes straight to their Oregon openings, so check it before promising anything since the Oregon list changes. Warehouse selector work pays well because it is incentive based, meaning you get paid partly on how fast you pick orders, and experienced selectors clear well over twenty dollars an hour. It is cold, physically demanding work lifting cases in a refrigerated warehouse, usually on night shift, and the incentive pace is genuinely tough in the first few months. No resume or English test is needed for the warehouse floor and they train you on the equipment.

These are hands on sorting, folding, and hanging roles with no degree requirement and no prior experience needed, and a lot of the openings are third shift overnight with extra pay. It is a large plant with many people doing the same task side by side, which some folks find steadying and others find repetitive. Cintas is a big national employer with real HR and benefits, which matters if someone wants documented employment history and health coverage.

This is the company that used to be Schnitzer Steel, so if someone knows the old name that is the same employer, still Portland founded and Portland headquartered. Radius is listed in the Jails to Jobs Second Chance Employers Network, which is a real signal rather than just a Goodwill referral. Portland area postings have shown Autos Cashier around eighteen dollars an hour and General Laborer at the Sherwood yard around twenty one dollars an hour, with most hourly roles in the high teens to high twenties. Be upfront that this is heavy industrial yard work, outdoors in Portland weather, with steel toe boots and safety gear required, so it is a good fit for someone who wants physical work and a real hourly wage and a poor fit for someone with mobility or chronic pain issues. Route Service Representative, Production Worker, Customer Service Representative
UniFirst rents and launders work uniforms and has a Portland branch, and this link is already filtered to their Portland, Oregon jobs so you are not sorting through the whole country. Route Service Representative means driving a company truck around a set route delivering and picking up uniforms, so you need a valid license and a reasonably clean driving record. They train new route drivers, so you do not need prior route or delivery experience. International Paper is not a Second Chance Business Coalition member and does not publish a fair chance policy, so plant HR decides case by case. Read this before you apply
Every number is a count of openings in the Portland metro area, checked by a person against the employer's own careers page. Metro means Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties plus Clark County in Washington. Salem, Eugene and Bend jobs are not counted, even when the employer lists them.
Apply anytime means the employer keeps no posted job list. Staffing agencies and day labor services work this way. It does not mean they are not hiring. It often means they can place you faster than an employer sitting on forty postings.
